William Shakespeare, known as the greatest English writer of all time, was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, in April 1564. He is the son of a glove maker named John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. He was baptized on April 26, 1564 and April 23 has been considered his birthday. Shakespeare’s father, John, was a prosperous glove maker during his birth. However, he was prosecuted for participating in the black market for wool and, as a result, lost his position as a councilor.
On November 28, 1952, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway in what is believed to be an urgent wedding due to Hathaway’s pregnancy. On May 26, 1583, Shakespeare’s first son Susanna was baptized at Stratford. Less than two years later, on February 2, 1585, his son and daughter, Hamnet and Judith, were baptized. Hamnet died in 1596 and many people believed that this inspired Shakespeare to write “The Tragic Story of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark.”
William Shakespeare has become a writer, actor and co-owner of the theater company “The Lord Chamberlain’s Men”. The aforementioned theater company became famous after the death of Queen Elizabeth I and during the coronation of King James I. The monarchy adapted the theater company and was renamed “The King’s Men”.
Shakespeare wrote some of the world’s greatest tragedies, such as “Romeo and Juliet”, “Macbeth”, “King Lear”, “Othello” and “Hamlet”. He has also written timeless comedies such as “The Comedy of Errors”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “The Tempest.”
